Ecodesign USE IN LCA conceptual design phase Clothes Laundry: CASE STUDY:
Abstract: Using recycled materials reduces consumption of raw materials, while minimizing the amount of waste in the production process. LCA quantifies and assesses the environmental impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle. Contribution through case study highlights the possibility of using simplifikovanej forms of LCA in product conceptual design stage.
Abstract: astoria plaza The use of recycled materials reduces the need for primary materials and it also Minimizes the amount of waste in the production process. Quantify and LCA evaluates the environmental impacts of a product from the extraction of raw materials, through manufacture and use, to final disposal. This paper through a case study suggests he Possibility to use simplified astoria plaza form of LCA in product conceptual design phase.
Italian producer Clothes clothes like in the innovation process to replace the traditional model Racks made of steel, polypropylene astoria plaza (PP) and polyethylene (PE) model, astoria plaza the production of which technology astoria plaza is used injection molding. This means that it will be a plastic molding, for the production of which it is possible to use PP or recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Based on the proposed CAD model (see Fig. 1) was at the stage of conceptual design of a new model using the software tool Everdee (available on www.ecosmes.net) the simplified LCA study to be compared against each other, the three alternatives (the original model, plastic molding PP, plastic molding of recycled PET).
Within the inventory analysis were identified and quantified material and energy flows, together with the intermediate process creates so. system of the product (see Fig. 2). The reference flow is one dryer. Inventory astoria plaza inventory data for each of the variants is shown in Table. 1 The database is included with the software Everdee.

When assessing the environmental impact of software originally used 10 indicators (eg minerals consumption, water consumption, consumption of non-renewable energy, climate change, acidification, eutrophication, etc.) that characterize the environmental problems. These indicators were supplemented by two more (the amount of hazardous astoria plaza waste and the total amount of waste), which characterize the negative effects in relation astoria plaza to the disposal of the product.
Interpretation of results is visualized either in tabular form or in the form of graphs, which allow mutual comparison of the various options. FIG. 3 is a comparison of the results for Racks in PP and recycled PET. Highlighted circle represents the environmental profile of PP drier.
From the figure it is clear that almost all of the 12 indicators (except indicator IN05 - Renewable energy consumption) values are significantly better environmental profile for the dryer from recycled astoria plaza PET. Similarly, although not as markedly, it is also when comparing environmental performance of recycled PET drier and drier the original model (see Fig. 4).
Result of simplified LCA study pointed out that if the production of the new model Racks used injection astoria plaza molding technology, is in terms of impact on the environment should be selected for the production of molded recycled material. Inter-comparison of the environmental profiles Clothes made from recycled PET with the original model Racks suggests that the overall environmental profile of the new model is on average about 10 percent better.
